As the years pass, it’s fairly common for the signs of aging to begin making themselves known in the face and neck. Skin can start to sag and wrinkles can begin to form, and neither tend to be a welcome sight...but not everyone is interested in going through an invasive surgical procedure, or dealing with the recovery period and downtime that tend to follow.
How Does the PRP Procedure Work?
The first step in your PRP facial will involve drawing a small sample of your blood, from which we’ll extract the platelet rich plasma to be used in your facial procedure. Next we’ll apply a topical numbing cream, to keep you comfortable during the microneedling procedure. Using a device with a series of tiny needles, we’ll create what are known as “micro-channels” in your skin, which allow for two important effects to take place.
- The micro-channels naturally stimulate your body’s wound response, essentially tricking your body into thinking it’s been injured, and stimulating it to send restorative, regenerative compounds to the treatment site. This triggers the production of compounds like collagen and elastin, which help to refresh and restore your skin.
- At the same time, these micro-channels allow the platelet rich plasma to penetrate deeper into the layers of your skin, further encouraging the production of collagen and elastin, and working to even more effectively restore your skin’s youthful tone, texture, and appearance.
